Ball Bearings are a type of rolling-element bearing that uses balls to maintain the separation between the moving parts of the bearing. The purpose of deep groove precision ball bearings is to reduce rotational friction and support radial and axial loads. Radial Ball bearings can support moderate radial loads and moderate axial loads (parallel to the shaft). They can operate at high speeds (400,000 RPMs and higher). Ball bearings with shields or seals for protection can be lubricated to last for the operating life. Sometimes ball bearings are also called “deep groove ball bearings.”

Roller & Cylindrical Bearings are a type of rolling-element bearing that uses cylinders to maintain the separation between the moving parts of the bearing. The purpose of cylindrical bearings is to reduce rotational friction and support radial and axial loads. Compared to ball bearings, roller bearings can support heavy radial loads and limited axial loads. They can operate at moderate to high speeds. The lubrication method must carefully be considered during the design phase when using roller bearings.

Linear bushing bearings and linear way products incorporate several rows of recirculating balls or rollers for low friction and precise linear motion. Linear bushing bearings use a round shaft and linear way bearings have a rectangular shaped track. Both the inch and metric types are available as standard, adjustable and open, both with and without selas, depending on the requirements of the applications. The linear way series offers standard, wide, carbon steel and stainless steel variations.

Generally, thrust bearings are composed of two washers (raceways) in which those for ball bearings may be grooved, and the rolling elements. Different kinds of thrust ball bearings are used to support different amounts of axial load. Thrust ball bearings are used in applications that use little axial load, where a ring supports ball bearings. Spherical roller thrust bearings are used in applications that require high axial load, and can also support shafts that are out of alignment. Thrust bearings are used in higher speed applications that require oil lubrication.
